May 30, 1998 - Leon Bender, 22, Washington State DL:

Defensive lineman at Washington St. and 1998 second round draft pick (31st overall) of the Oakland Raiders; 6-foot-5, 300-pound tackle started all but one game over the last two seasons for Washington St. and finished his college career at the Rose Bowl; cause of death is unknown; Bender who suffered from epilepsy, was found in the bathroom of his agent's home

He stood six-foot-five. A quarterback’s worst fear on the field. A gentle giant, devoted husband, and father at home. An NFL dream realized by signing with the Raiders. So much potential. So many smiles. Such a warm, generous heart. He was taken from this world at the age of 22. He suffered from epilepsy. This is his foundation. This is where you help remember the legacy that is Leon.
